About UK Air Quality

UK Air Quality is an independent website dedicated to helping people in the UK breathe easier at home.

We publish practical, research-backed guides on air purifiers, dehumidifiers, and indoor air quality — written for real homes in the UK, not for American climates or generic global audiences. That means we factor in UK weather, UK humidity levels, UK energy prices, and products that are actually available to buy on Amazon.co.uk.

Why this site exists

Indoor air quality in the UK is a genuine issue. Millions of homes suffer from damp, condensation, and mould — problems that are getting worse as we insulate buildings more tightly to save energy. Hay fever, asthma, and dust mite allergies affect a significant proportion of the population, and the air inside our homes is often more polluted than the air outside.

There is a lot of conflicting advice out there, much of it written for the US market or optimised for search engines rather than for people. We set out to write the kind of guides we wished existed when we were trying to figure out which dehumidifier to buy for a cold bedroom, or which air purifier would actually help with pollen.

What we cover

  • Dehumidifiers — which models work in cold UK conditions, what size you need, desiccant vs compressor, and room-by-room recommendations
  • Air purifiers — HEPA filtration, pollen, pet dander, smoke, and dust — with honest comparisons of the models available in the UK
  • Indoor air quality — humidity, condensation, mould, and how to create a healthier home environment

Our approach

Every product we recommend has been researched thoroughly. We read manufacturer specifications, independent test results, and real-world user reviews. We are transparent about affiliate relationships — see our Affiliate Disclaimer — and these relationships do not influence our recommendations. If a product is not suitable, we say so.

We are not sponsored by any manufacturer. We do not accept payment for reviews or recommendations.

If you have a question, a topic suggestion, or have spotted an error in one of our guides, we would love to hear from you. Use our Contact page to get in touch.
